International A-levels

Course Overview

In our A-Level Physics online course, students will study Mechanics & Materials; Waves & Electricity; Fields & Particles; Thermodynamics, Radiation, Oscillations & Cosmology; and Practical Skills. Students will learn essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to each other. They will get a deep appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of scientific methods.

TYPICAL AGE RANGE

The International GCSE classes course is suitable for students 16-18 years old. In some countries students divide studies over two years.

ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

A-Level courses can be taken as a full-time or part-time option along with other subjects. Students can also take a combination of A-levels at CGA.

RECOMMENDED BACKGROUND

- Full-time IAL Students: Students must have already passed the relevant AS Level subjects with a grade C or higher. - Students should attempt a minimum of 4 AS/AL subjects. - If a student wishes only to complete 3 AL subjects, they can make up the required 4th subject with a new AS Level.

What You'll Learn

Unit 1: Mechanics and materials

Learn about the fundamental principles governing physical systems' behaviour, including forces, motion, energy, and momentum. Additionally, you will also learn about the properties of materials and how they can be used in different applications.

Unit 2: Waves and Electricity

Learn about the properties and behaviour of waves, including light and sound waves. Additionally, you will learn about electric circuits, electromagnetic fields, and how electrical energy can be transformed into other forms of energy.

Unit 3: Practical skills in Physics I

You will learn about a range of practical skills, including data analysis, experimental design, and how to use scientific equipment effectively. Additionally, you will learn about the principles of accuracy and precision in scientific measurements and how to evaluate the reliability of experimental results.

Unit 4: Further Mechanics, Fields and Particles

Learn more about advanced topics in mechanics, including circular motion, simple harmonic motion, and moments. Additionally, you will learn about fields and particles, including gravitational, electric, and magnetic fields, as well as the behavior of particles at the atomic and subatomic level.

Unit 5: Thermodynamics, Radiation, Oscillations and Cosmology.

Learn about the behaviour of gases and how they transfer heat energy, as well as the principles of radiation and oscillations. Additionally, you will learn about cosmology, including the origins and evolution of the universe, and the Big Bang theory.

Unit 6: Practical skills in Physics II

You will build upon the practical skills and knowledge you gained in Unit 3, further developing your ability to design and conduct experiments and analyze experimental data. Additionally, you will learn about the ethical considerations that are important when conducting scientific research, as well as how to communicate scientific findings effectively.

FAQs

What is the A-Levels?

The International GCSEs and A Levels are the most commonly studied curriculum around the world. They are based on the UK high school education system and are adapted for a global student base. At Crimson Global Academy we offer the A Levels online for students around the world.

Can I do Physics A-level online?

Yes, the same discipline that exists at a brick-and-mortar school is valued online, and your academic support team will help you stay on track every step of the way.

How do we do experiments in an online classroom?

In lessons, practicals are carried out as simulations where students can plan, collect data and analyse the data individually using the simulation software. In addition, we offer a one-day face-to-face practical experience in a local school laboratory in certain cities around the world, including Auckland and Sydney.

After I graduate from CGA, can I go to university in the US/UK or any other countries?

Yes, you will be well prepared to apply to enter any university in the world. As always, university entrance is competitive and successful entry will be dependent on not only a successful academic background but a breadth of co-curricular activity, which is encouraged and supported at CGA.

Is CGA only for full-time students?

Students can either enrol full-time or take classes part-time in addition to attending their local high school, giving them access to a broader range of subjects and curriculums on a flexible schedule.
